Our triple success at the Taste of Excellence Awards

The White Hart Hotel is recognised for culinary and hospitality excellence

Here at the White Hart Hotel, we’re proud to announce that we were recognised in three categories at the Taste of Excellence Awards on 1st November 2018.

These include:

  • Gold citation – The Restaurant of the Year
  • Finalists – The Hotel of the Year
  • Gold citation – The Wedding Venue of the Year

Associated with Lincolnshire Life magazine, the awards recognise some of the finest venues and restaurants around the county.

Every category is voted for by the people of Lincolnshire, which makes our trio of nominations extra special.

So how did we do it?

Our winter food inspiration

To be recognised at such a prestigious food and drink awards largely boils down to our new winter menu.

Our head chef, Myles Mumby says: “Our winter menu demonstrates to you our creativity and a real taste of Britain, using locally sourced produce from within our wonderful country.

As a true ‘Yellowbelly’, my passion for everything Lincolnshire is endless. I have been fortunate enough to meet many local suppliers, build solid relationships and develop a strong sense of using seasonal ingredients to ensure complimentary flavour combinations.

In particular, our Redhill Farm pork done three ways and the Root vegetable, apricot and Skegness Blue cheese bake with chestnut crumble dishes really encompassed this vision and played an integral part in us being awarded a gold citation in the Restaurant of the Year category.”

On reflection, we think our passion to use local produce in our a la carte menu, as well as offering a great deal with our 5 of Harts deal on our lunch menu, has really helped put a smile on the faces of our guests.

And not to mention our infamous Steak Night every Thursday, where guests can enjoy an 8oz ribeye steak, 8oz lamb rump or roasted half-chicken in honey and mustard, two sides and a drink for just £15 per person.

Winter food oozing quality and value is clearly a winning formula if the Taste of Excellence Awards and our AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence earlier this year are anything to go by.

The importance of a good venue

To match our head chef’s fine attention to detail, our hospitality team have also been working extremely hard over the last 12 months to create a venue which excels in hosting weekend getaways and plush wedding ceremonies.

This all stems from the way we’ve designed our executive rooms right through to the way we’ve arranged our wedding spaces.

Lincolnshire Life magazine and the people who voted have clearly identified a distinct difference in the way that we treat our guests and our passion to provide an unparalleled service.
