Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Why the past 12 months will help make 2019 our best year yet

From all the team here at the White Hart Hotel, we’d like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

It’s been yet another busy, but extremely enjoyable year with a lot of wonderful memories shared with thousands of guests.

Whether it’s providing bedroom suites, helping couples say “I do”, hosting business and charity functions, or serving up beautiful dishes in our award-winning Grille Restaurant, we’ve been lucky enough to accommodate thousands of guests in 2018.

Surprisingly, we’re still standing and just wanted to say a massive thank you for making the past year possible.

Here are some of our highlights.

Our 2018 highlights

In a bid to make the White Hart Hotel even more special, we gave our rooftop terrace a fancy lick of paint and a few defining features to ensure it was in keeping with its beautiful surroundings.

The new refurbishment project means that it’s not only the perfect place to watch the sunset every evening or gaze at the stars above, but it’s also a top setting for summer or winter wedding photographs too.

Our attention to detail was recognised by the Taste of Excellence Awards too, as they gave the White Hart Hotel a Gold Citation in the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ and ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’ categories, as well as naming us as a Finalist in the ‘Hotel of the Year’ category.

This is a testament to our team’s hard work and the loyalty our wonderful customers have shown us over the past 12 months.

In particular, we’ve worked very hard to form key partnerships with local food sources and perfect our winter menu as a whole.

Myles Mumby, our head chef says: “Our winter menu demonstrates to you our creativity and a real taste of Britain, using locally sourced produce from within our wonderful country.

As a true ‘Yellowbelly’, my passion for everything Lincolnshire is endless. I have been fortunate enough to meet many local suppliers, build solid relationships and develop a strong sense of using seasonal ingredients to ensure complimentary flavour combinations.”

Paired with our staff’s desire to go the extra mile for our guests, both our hotel and wedding venues have continued to flourish.

How to plan your dream wedding

With so much to consider, it can be hard to know where to start when it comes to planning your special day. We’ve a wealth of experience in wedding planning at The White Hart, so read through our top tips to help you organise your dream wedding…

  • Get organised… First things first, get the maths out of the way! Agree your budget and guest list before you do anything else. Having your numbers set right from the start will make everything that follows much smoother.
  • Head to a wedding fayre… A quick search online will bring up fayres in your area. They’re a great source of inspiration and you can often get exclusive show rates on everything from caterers to bridal boutiques. (For more tips on how to prepare for a wedding fayre, read our guide.)
  • Save the date… Let your guests know well in advance that you’d like them to be a part of your big day. Send out save the dates at least six months before – this should help minimise any last-minute changes to the guest list.
  • Pick your venue… Start viewing venues as soon as you’ve set a date. Ask for details on their wedding packs so you can be clear on exactly what’s included and the extras you need to arrange yourself.
  • It’s who you know… When it comes to the cake, florist and photographer, ask around everyone you know for recommendations to help you get the best deal.

How to Prepare for a Wedding Fayre

If you’re looking to tie the knot, a Wedding Fayre offers great inspiration. You’ll find lots of ideas on the best local venues, dress designs, jewellers and caterers as well as florists and photographers.

With Bailgate Wedding Fayre just around the corner on Sunday 20th March, here are our tips on how a prospective bride and groom can prepare for a fun-filled day of wedding planning:

Register on the guest list

Some fayres require visitors to register online before the day. For the Bailgate Fayre you can register here (admission is free) and benefit from White Hart Hotel’s open-house – pop in without an appointment to view the function rooms and learn about our wedding packages that feature everything from intimate gatherings to banquet dinners.

Take cash

Keep some cash with you in case you’d like to buy anything that’s on offer or put a small deposit down with a hen party organiser or a hair stylist.

Arrive early!

The Wedding Fashion Show at the White Hart Hotel is free to attend but seats are limited so try to arrive as early as you can to secure a place (the show will run twice!). Arriving early to see exhibitors at the fayre will also give you a chance to have a good look around before things get busy.

Note down contact details

If a certain florist or photographer appeals to you then be sure to make a note of their contact details. Pick up business cards and write a small note on the back of each one to remind you of what you liked.

Take your time

Don’t feel like you have to rush through and see everything – focus on the things that are most important to you and take your time discussing your options regarding venue choices, menus and decorations.
